The next Bible Study will be on November 31, Tuesday, at 12 pm. In light of thanksgiving we will be taking another look at the parable of the prodigal son found in the gospel of Luke. Among the many things to be thankful for we can always give thanks for the salvation made possible through Christ.
I was listening to This American Life about interesting (not necessarily good) ways that Christians evangelize. It made me think again about Daniel’s preview to evangelism in Luke 9:57-10:4. What does our mission as Christians look like? How do we carry it out?
This American Life: Bait and Switch
The next Bible Study will be on Tuesday, November 10, at 12 pm. We will be continuing our study through the book of Luke. In chapter 10 we get an idea of how Jesus conceptualizes evangelism. How can we adopt Jesus’ views and get at the heart of evangelism?
This Tuesday (Nov. 3) we will be discussing moral / religious relativism. There will be a short summary of the talk given a couple weeks ago along with an extended Q&A discussion. We plan to have discussions like this once every month to foster open-minded dialogue concerning the most important issues in life: purpose, ethics, religion, personhood, etc. Please feel free to post comments or make suggestions for future topics.
The next bible study will be on Tuesday, October 27 in room B14 of the pharmacy building (PSC). Please join us as we begin a series through selected chapters in the book of Luke.
There will be a talk critiquing relativism in the medical student lounge on Wednesday (October 21) at 12 p.m. Free food will be provided and everyone is welcome to join the discussion.
For the past 2 meetings, Daniel has been exploring the ways in which we are not aligned properly with the truth. And because we are not aligned properly to the truth, we cannot connect to God who is truth. When we sin, he asked us to explore our explanatory practices. Do we rationalize our behavior? Do we blame others, our past, our circumstances? We will continue this topic on Monday, 9/28, at noon in a room TBD. Hope you can join us.
Hope everyone had a good summer. After a summer of studying Isaiah, Ruth, Zephaniah and various others, we are ready to begin a new year of Bible studies and small group discussions. Come this Monday for our first New Student Welcome (Back, for some) Night! 7pm at Hastings Auditorium (HMR Building).
